About Our Club

Our club opened its gates in 1985 and is set in a beautiful, peaceful area, with the backdrop of the local church (St Michael’s) in the old village of Kingsteignton.  We pride ourselves on being a friendly club, happy to welcome all new members of any age and ability.  Wheelchair access is also available and wheelchair users are more than welcome.

We have an excellent outdoor synthetic surface, consisting of four rinks, allowing bowls to be played all year round. Beginners are welcome to come and have a go, using equipment provided by the club before having to buy bowls and shoes for themselves. For use on the bowls green, smooth soled shoes with no heel are required. Traditionally, white tops and grey trousers/skirts are worn on the green but since late 2019, for practice games only (roll ups), casual attire is allowed (relaxed dress code) at our club. One of our members is a qualified coach and any tuition given is free of charge to new members.

There is a thriving programme of bowling to suit all abilities. Informal ‘roll-ups’ (practice) take place most afternoons throughout the year and there are monthly social evenings in the Winter months. The club runs a team in the Mid Devon League (MDL) and is currently in the 1st division. It also has 2 teams in the South Devon Over 55s League and a Ladies team in the SDLBL. In addition there are mixed Friendly matches and internal competitions, which always prove to be great competitive fun!

The club house is equipped with a kitchen and a social area which hosts the regular fun packed social evenings. The changing rooms have lockers to store bowlers’ equipment and the toilet facilities include a separate disabled toilet.

To conclude, our club offers a very attractive package for all. Why not come along and give bowls a try?

Presently, of course, many sports clubs (just to name one outlet) have taken a massive hit, due to Covid-19. Our club is presently closed (at Feb. 2021) due to Covid lockdown. For members and visitors alike, when bowls again becomes available, rinks must be booked through the club secretary, Bill Beech, mobile: 07557-094825. It is planned that our club reopens for business on 29th March this year. Certain safety guide lines will be explained to first time visitors plus various notices & instructions displayed at the club, which must be strictly adhered to.

Enjoy your bowling!
